Six months after a Malaysia Airlines passenger plane disappeared with 239 people on board, a multinational effort has still failed to find any sign of the aircraft. Preparations are now being made for the next phase of the underwater search for the wreckage of flight MH370 in the Southern Indian Ocean.
President Obama will unveil his strategy for dealing with Islamic State group militants on Wednesday, the eve of the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks in the United States. It comes as the secretary general of the Arab League has called all members to confront the militant group on all possible levels.
And a court in Afghanistan has sentenced seven men to death for their part in the gang rape and robbery of four women outside of the capital, Kabul. The women were attacked as they returned from a wedding last month.
