At least six members of the Palestinian militant group Hamas have been killed by Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip. The Israeli military says it targeted the organization following weeks of rocket attacks on Israel. It’s the biggest attack against the group since 2012 and Hamas has threatened retaliation.
Israel’s prime minister has promised to bring to justice the killers of a Palestinian teenager whose death on Wednesday sparked days of rioting. He was speaking after Israeli police arrested six Jewish suspects in Jerusalem. The killing followed the discovery of the bodies of three Israeli teenagers in the West Bank.
Tighter security measures for electronic equipment are being introduced on flights to the United States. Passengers may be asked to switch on a device to prove the battery is working. American officials are concerned Islamist militants are developing sophisticated explosive devices to evade airport security.
