Pro-Russian separatists in parts of Eastern Ukraine are staging votes whether to break away from central government control. The unofficial referendums have been condemned by western leaders and the government in Kiev.
Protesters in Vietnam have staged some of the largest anti-China rallies in the country in recent years. They called on Beijing to withdraw from an oil rig in disputed waters in the South China Sea.
The government and rebels in South Sudan have accused each other of violating a cease-fire just hours after it came into effect. President Kiir and Rebel Leader Riek Machar had signed the peace deal only on Friday.
