Thousands of people in Crimea have been celebrating what they consider to be an overwhelming and decisive vote to rejoin in Russia. Our first results of this controversial referendum show just under 97 percent voted yes to break away from Ukraine.
The United States and the EU said the vote was illegal and they refused to recognize it as president Putin says the vote complied with international law. EU will meet to consider sanctions against Russia in a few hours' time.
And the pilots of the missing Malaysian Airline have come under the spotlight after it emerged that the final words from the jet came after the first system shut down. Twenty five countries are now helping in the search for the missing plane, covering tens of millions of square miles.
