The Thai government has begun a meeting with other political parties to discuss postponing the general election due in less than three weeks. But anti-government protesters who are blockading roads in central Bangkok have refused to take part and insist they will stay until the prime minister resigns.
Israel has tried to diffuse a row with its main ally and supporter, The United States. Its defense minister was quoted describing the US Secretary of State, John Kerry, as messianic and obsessive. A late night statement from the Israeli defense ministry offered an apology for any offense caused.
Japan airlines has grounded one of its fleet of 787 Dreamliner Aircraft because smoke was detected coming from the plane’s battery during maintenance in Tokyo. All 787’s were grounded a year ago for three months because of repeated problems with batteries overheating.
