An explosion on a bus in the Russian city of Volgograd has killed at least ten people. Twenty have been wounded. The blast comes a day after 17 people were killed in a suicide bomb attack at the central train station in the city.
The seven-time Formula One motor racing champion Michael Schumacher is in a critical condition after suffering a serious brain trauma. It happened when he fell while skiing off-piste in the French Alps. He is now in a hospital in Grenoble where he has undergone brain surgery.
Bad weather is hampering efforts to rescue a Russian research ship that has been trapped in Antarctic pack ice since Tuesday. An Australian ice-breaker that was trying to reach the vessel has been forced back to clear water.
And tens of thousands of Ukrainians have staged another anti-government protest in the capital Kiev. Demonstrators marched on the president’s official residence, demanding he resign.
