Thousands of demonstrators in Ukraine are still blockading the main government building and occupying the main square in the capital, Kiev. The Prime Minister says the protests in the country bare all signs of a coup. The president, Viktor Yanukovych, has called for only peaceful rallies.
Accident investigators are saying the commuter train that derailed in New York on Sunday, killing four passengers, was travelling at more than twice the speed limit. The train left the tracks on a sharp bend beside the Hudson River where the limit drops to 50 kilometers an hour.
The US Vice President, Joe Biden, has begun his Asian Tour in Japan as tension’s still high over disputed islands in the East China Sea. He’s on a week-long trip that will also take him to Beijing and to the South Korean capital, Seoul. On Friday, he will visit the Demilitarized Zone which divides the two Koreas - still officially at war.
