U.S. Senators have ordered a major review of the country’s intelligence operations after more allegations surfaced of spying on a massive scale. The Whitehouse has defended its intelligence practices saying they help to keep Americans and others safe but it has also admitted additional constraints on surveillance are needed.
Chinese state media have said at least five people have been killed and 38 others injured after a vehicle crashed in Beijing’s Tiananmen Square. Three of those killed were inside the car. The other two were bystanders. So far there has been no explanation for the crash.
The doctor convicted of killing Michael Jackson has been released from jail after serving almost half of his four year sentence. Conrad Murray was found guilty for involuntary manslaughter for giving the pop star a lethal dose of anesthetic to help him sleep. He will be appealing against his original conviction.
